*Warning*

Do NOT take an intro course from your local community college. My friend Laura and I signed up for an Intro to Digital Photography class at our local cc, hoping we would get some insight on how to use our cameras. Instead of learning some much needed technical  functions, we learned re-learned plenty on how to create a file, yes create a file, how to import photos into that file, how to geo tag your photos, and on and on.  It was so basic he even went into great detail on how to literally open a folder. Whheeew it was exhausting just listening to him. He did go over a little on how to frame a picture and what makes a good photo; lead lines, natural framing, division of placement.... all very interesting but still left me wondering what 2/3 of the buttons still meant on my camera. I guess we will have to self teach. SLR For Dummies here I come.

Happy Easter

We celebrated a week early this year while Janelle and Mason were still in town. Mason had his very own personal egg hunt. We died eggs, and had the usual blind contest. Not to brag or anything but my eggs took third and first..... Mom made a delicious dinner with homemade carrot cake. Of course the Easter bunny came too. I think when we have kids I will still do baskets for Ryan and I, why not? I'm a big kid too.

Cookies, anyone?

April fools day, Janelle and I attempted a prank on whom ever couldn't resist these enticing looking Oreo cookies. We re-stuffed these Oreos with toothpaste. muuahahahaha The day of the prank we couldn't find any toothpaste around the house that looked liked frosting. damn. We were left with one travel size plain white tube enough to fill one cookie, the rest had to be stuffed with white and blue speckle tooth paste. Not quite the same. Unfortunately, none of the adults went for it, Mason however took the bait. It was pretty entertaining. He thought they were spicy!

I scream, you scream,

...we all scream for ice cream! Ryan will do  pay anything for good food, it never ceases to amaze me. Like the time when he ordered these 15 dollars each, pints of ice cream ($$$ plus s&h for frozen items $$$) from Dean and Deluca.  That time, I think I did scream.
The infamous ice cream is created by Jeni Britton Bauer. Ryan ordered three flavors: Salty Caramel, The Milkiest Chocolate in the World, Brambleberry Crisp. The salted caramel was super good, I loved it! The other two were average, but also not flavors I would choose. If you want to splurge on some ice cream go with the Salty Caramel, delicious. Or possibly the Super Pop Cakes Collection that sounds a-m-a-z-i-n-g.

Wild Animal Sanctuary

Janelle and Mason just left from their week long stay for spring break, tear. We did some new activities around town, including a trip to the Wild Animal Sanctuary. The sanctuary rescues animals that have been abused/ neglected and can no longer survive in the wild. They have lions, tigers, bears, wolves, and panthers. The facility has an elevated sidewalk that you view the animals from above, a different view from most Zoos.

Cooking Class

We have been eying Sur La Table's cooking classes for a while.  When I looked at the menus for the month of March I got extincted to see Date Night: Dinner in Spain. The menu featured:

Garlic-Sherry Mushrooms to start
Chicken and Shrimp Paella
Chorizo-Stuffed Piquillo Peppers
Brandy-Spiked Hazelnut Custard

We learned a few new tricks in the kitchen, and it was fun cooking with other passionate foodies. The classes are a little expensive, hopefully we will be back for more.
