Rocky Mountain NP

Colorado sure is picture perfect. A trip to Rocky Mountain National park, and one last hurrah before Janelle starts back to work, yet another reminder that summer is coming to an end. Sad face.

Birthdays and Such

Happy Birthday to us, Happy Birthday to us... summer is a busy time for birthdays!  Janelle was in town for her birthday this year so we had a party and celebrated her quarter life!  The birthday girl requested an almond poppy cake with white chocolate butter cream frosting.  I opted for an ice cream cake, half funky donkey the other half mud pie.
Ryan took me to see the Broadway play, Jersey Boys. We both really, really liked it. I was surprised at how many songs I actually knew.  I haven't seen very many plays, but this one just might be my favorite. For my birthday I got a nightstand, wooohoo! You know your getting old when you are excited to get a nightstand, but seriously our entire married life I have been with out a nightstand so this is big.

Meador Reunion

Yes, we had back to back reunions. Luckily they weren't overlapping! The Meador family rented a cabin in southern Colorado outside the Crested Butte/ Gunnison area.  The cabin was surrounded by beautiful aspens, it had a small pond, barn, horses, play attic, hot tub..... I don't think the kids were ever bored. While we were all together we updated our family photo to include the latest addition, Bonnie Kate.

We celebrated the Fourth of July in downtown Gunnison, who put on one of the few remaining fire work shows for Colorado this year due to the wild fires. Happy Birthday America!

Kimball Reunion

Where has the summer gone? I was at the store the other day and all the school supplies were lining the aisles, I hate that reminder that summer is almost over!
Anyway at the end of June we went to California to celebrate Grandma Kimball's 90th Birthday! The whole family gathered to spend a few days in Lake Tahoe.  Ryan and I flew in a few days early so we could spend some time in our favorite city, San Fran. We tired a couple new to us places including Bi-Rite Creamery, House of Prime Rib, La Mar, Tonga Room and re-re-revisited Tartine Bakery. Why can't we have places like these in Colorado (minus Tonga Room)?
The time we spent in Tahoe was filled with swimming, hiking, golfing, and many family activities. Ryan and I both tried paddle boarding for the first time and it was a  blast! Surprisingly my arms weren't even soar the next day. The lake was still a little too cold to really get in and enjoy it, so paddle boarding was the perfect way to see the crystal blue water.
